Description:

In-person tastings are back in 2022 at the Downeast Cider + Cheese Festival in downtown Ellsworth, Maine! Join Heart of Ellsworth for a sit-down guided tastings of several hard ciders and cheeses, with Apple historian Todd Little-Siebold, Jon Stein of Fogtown Brewing Company and Maggie Iannuzzi of Precipice Coffee and special guest Sean Turley - apple expert, forager, documenter, columnist, and founder of the Portland Cider Club.

Pairings of hard ciders and cheeses will be sourced from Maine purveyors, with some cideries and cheesemakers present to share their process. We will take over a downtown eatery and create a sensory experience for heritage food enthusiasts.  Each participant will leave the tasting with a resource list of purveyors and tasting glass commemorating the 2022 Downeast Cider + Cheese Festival. 

In-person tastings will be held at Flexit Cafe 142 Main Street in Ellsworth. Two separate sittings will be offered, one on Saturday, November 12 at 6pm and a second on Sunday, November 13 at 2pm

Celebrating a revival of two traditional foods, hard cider, and cheese, the Downeast Cider + Cheese Festival honors the rich tradition of Maine’s historic apple industry, the first and only event of its kind in the state.
